Bibimbap Recipe

Bibinbap is a really popular Korean dish. Because you boil all the veges for the topping you can eat lots more veges at once (they shrink in size). Serve it with Kimchi & Gouchijuang (Korean Hot Pepper Paste)...these make it nicely spicy and make your body warm. It is a perfect winter dish. Also, it is fantastic as a party menu dish.

serves 4
one bunch spinach - cut into 3rds
1 carrot - thin strips (I used a cheese grater)
1/2 daikon (Japanese radish)- thin strips
200g beef, pork or chicken - thin strips
12 bunches Chinese chives - cut into 5cm strips
1 tbsp sesame oil
SAORI Sesame Soya Japanese Sauce
2 cups cooked Japanese rice (sushi or koshi rice)
2 eggs

option
Gouchujang (Korean Hot Pepper Paste)
kimuchi

1: individually boil daikon, carrot & spinach for couple of minutes. Boil daikon first, then carrot and finally spinach so you can use same hot water for boiling.
2: squeeze the water out of the vegetables. Drizzle on one table spoon SAORI Sesame Soya Japanese Sauce on each of the vegetables.

3: stir-fry meat and Chinese chives in sesame oil and flavour with 2 tbsp SAORI Sesame Soya Japanese Sauce
4:place cooked rice in frying pan or wock (I used a Japanese ceramic pot). Top with daikon, carrot, spinach, meat and then crack the eggs in the middle.

5: put lid on and cook on a medium heat for 2-3 minutes - this makes the rice on the bottom go golden brown and gives it a lovely crispy texture.
6: mix well
6: serve with kimchi & Gouchujang (Korean Hot Pepper Paste)
